Scott Wingo Drafted By The Los Angeles Dodgers

Columbia, S.C. - South Carolina senior infielder Scott Wingo has been selected in the 11th round of the 2011 MLB Draft. Wingo was the No. 344 overall pick in the draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is the third current Gamecock player to be selected in this year's draft. Jackie Bradley Jr. was selected in the supplemental round yesterday by the Red Sox and Matt Price was a sixth round selection by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Wingo earned first-team All-SEC honors this year and was named yesterday to the 2011 NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team. The senior captain led the team in hitting in SEC games with a .380 clip in 30 conference games. Wingo is hitting .335 (71-for-212) for the year and has a .468 on-base percentage that is among the best in the SEC. It is also the second consecutive year he earned All-SEC Defensive honors.
