Head Coach Chad Holbrook
This is an exciting time for sure for college baseball teams across the country that are able to continue to play. We were ecstatic last night when we were informed that we were chosen as one on the 16 host sites. Our players are working extremely hard, we've won some important games along the way to put ourselves in this position. It was nice to be rewarded with a host site. Things got a little bit more exciting when we found out that we have three very good teams coming to Columbia to play in our regional. We think the world of all three of teams. I've done some research on Saint Louis, they're certainly a No. 4 seed with 41 wins and pretty darn good RPI so we're going to have our hands full in game one. They've had a terrific year, they have so older guys, they've really swung the bat well, so its going to be a challenge right out of the gate. We obviously we have the utmost respect for Clemson, great tradition, great team, great coaches. They've had a terrific year as well and played really well down the stretch. We got to see first hand how good Liberty first hand at the beginning on the season. Our team is excited, we had a good practice this morning, we've been practicing all weekend and they've been some of our best practices of the year. Hopefully we'll carry that into the weekend and play some of our best baseball because we'll certainly need to with the opponents that are coming here.
On probable pitching rotation...
Nolan [Belcher] is going to go game one. I don't think we have any choice, Saint Louis is too good and we have to try to win our first game. Nolan has been our game one starter all year and that's what we're going to do since Nolan is healthy and ready to go. Jordan [Montgomery] will go game two and we'll stay will traditional TBA for game three.
On having already played two of the teams...
In a perfect world, selfishly I would love to play teams we haven't played yet. Obviously there are parameters with the NCAA committee that they have to adhere to and some of this stuff is regionalized a bit and we have to play who they send us. We know and have the utmost respect for the teams that are coming here, they know us and we know them, speaking about Liberty and Clemson. I don't know if there is advantage either way. I do know for us to win this regional we're going to have to play some of our best baseball
