Head Coach Ray Tanner Post Game Quotes vs. Tennessee
On pitching
"(Blake" Cooper pitched his heart out; we had a couple of missed plays behind him that made it difficult. He got behind a little bit, I don't think he tired but he did walk Forsythe and that inning got away from us a bit. But then (Jose) Mata got his guy, (Michael) Roth went in there and did a nice job and (Ethan) Carter did well. It's encouraging, we have confidence in those guys and they did a good job for us tonight. Runs were at a premium. (Bryan) Morgado is very good. You can't be a third rounder if you're not good. He probably felt like he didn't have great command tonight sometimes with his breaking ball. His arm is quick, he was able to locate his fastball and it's hard to hits off guys like that. That's why you didn't see a lot of hits, Cooper and Morgado pitched well. "
On being 1-0 in the SEC
"It's a great way to get it started. It's only one game and there's 29 left in the league. I explained to the players how it works in the big leagues. There are 50 wins and 50 losses and 62 other games that decide whether you're in the pennant race or not. Our deal is a little different. It's 10 up, 10 down and there are 10 more. Everyone is balanced in this league' you're not going to win them all. You got a chance to win hopefully win 10, you'll probably lose 10 so what are you going to do with the other 10. That was the message; we have to play like it's the other 10 all the time. The league is so good. Anybody can be anybody and I don't know if we're going to get any respect. Tennessee was unranked. It doesn't matter because everyone is good in our league. There will be a couple teams that finish at the bottom but the other nine are NCAA worthy."
