Lashinda Demus Advances In Women's 400m Hurdles

By Miquel Jacobs LONDON - Former Gamecock Lashinda Demus's search for a first Olympic gold medal remains alive after the reigning world champion took fifth in the preliminary round of the 400-meter hurdles Sunday night at the Games of the XXX Olympiad. Demus won her heat with the fifth-fastest time of the day at 54.60 to automatically advance to Monday's semifinal. Competing in her second Olympics (2004 Sydney), the current American record holder will compete at 3:15 p.m. (ET) for a berth in Wednesday's final round.
