Gamecocks Earn 23 USTFCCCA Outdoor All-American Honors

COLUMBIA, S.C. - On the heels of one of the most successful men's season in history, the South Carolina track and field program earned a total of 23 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-America honors following the performances of the men's and women's team at the NCAA Outdoor Championships last weekend in Fayetteville, Ark.
The men's team earned a total of 14 All-America citations from 10 athletes, and the women earned nine All-America citations from six athletes during last weeks national championships. Overall, the Gamecocks earned a program record 35 All-America honors from the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Multiple award winners at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships included Lakya Brookins, Johnny Dutch, Johnathan Hancock, Gabrielle Glenn, Breehana Jacobs, Quentin Moore, Obakeng Ngwigwa and Antonio Sales. Of the 23 All-America honors, only two come from seniors as Jason Cook earned his first honor and Jason Richardson earned his seventh career honor.
South Carolina earned a total of three medals at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships: silvers in the men's 110-meter and 400-meter hurdles and a bronze in the women's 4x100m relay.
