COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina redshirt senior Robert Razick earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-District Four NCAA Division I Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Razick, the 2013 South Carolina Scholar-Athlete of the Year, has been named to the Dean's list and earned SEC Academic Honor Roll honors each year of his career. The former walk-on set two school records during the 2013 indoor track season. At the 2013 Southeastern Conference Championships, Razick ran a 4:06.47 mile, the fastest time by a Gamecock in 31 years. He became the first South Carolina male to score in the event since 1995. Razick, who plans to attend medical school in the fall, also broke the 3,000-meter school record that had stood since 1975 with a time of 8:16.00. The former walk-on also ranks in the South Carolina top 10 in the 1,500-meter run.

A biological sciences major with a 3.90 GPA, Razick is one of five Southeastern Conference athletes on the District Four list, which includes schools in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

To qualify for nomination, student-athletes must be in their second year on campus and at least a sophomore athletically. They also must have a 3.30 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Razick and the rest of the honorees move onto the national ballot, competing against the members of the seven other districts for spots on the three Capital One Academic All-America teams.
