COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Junior Jeannelle Scheper from the South Carolina track and field team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.
Scheper won the invitational section of the women's high jump at the Tyson Invitational with a clearance of 6'3 ¼ (1.91m). The mark is the current collegiate leader. The mark also stands atop the SEC, leading Arkansas' Makeba Alcide by an inch (6'2 ¼ // 1.91m).
Scheper entered the season as the indoor and outdoor South Carolina record holder at 6'0. She has now bettered her record twice this season after clearing 6'2 ½ (1.91m) at the Auburn Invitational on Jan. 19, 2013.
She is the only Gamecock to ever clear 6'0 in the women's high jump and has now done so five times in the last two seasons, including three clearances this season.
