South Carolina Wins Two Events at Millrose Games

NEW YORK CITY -- After first competing at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational on Friday in New York City, select members of the South Carolina track and field team participated in the 100th Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden later in the evening.

Redshirt senior Thomas Hilliard, IV, won first place in the college 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.80. Earlier in the day, Hilliard ran 7.86 at The Armory Track to finish third in the prelims. Junior Jason Richardson crossed the finish line in 9.09, pulling up with a hamstring injury after he cleared the final hurdle.

In the final event of the night, the Gamecock women's 4x400m relay team won first in a time of 3:52.45. Senior Chiquita Martin ran the lead leg, redshirt senior Tawana Watkins ran second, junior Nikeshia Brown was the No. 3 runner and senior Stephanie Smith anchored. South Carolina is still undefeated this year in the mile relay with a 4-0 record.

In other action, junior Nick Lytle placed fourth in the college 60m in 7.01. In the women's 60m hurdles, sophomore Brittney James took fourth in 8.59, and classmate Trier Young was sixth at 9.17.
