BUDAPEST, Hungary - South Carolina swimming newcomer Brandonn Almeida finished the 2017 FINA World Championships strong with a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter IM final. The final took place Sunday afternoon in Budapest, helping conclude the competition.

The signee’s success helped round out a solid international showing for the Gamecocks at the 2017 FINA World Championships, highlighted by top-12 finish from Tom Peribonio in the 400-meter IM and two top-10 finishes from Akram Mahmoud in the 1500-meter and 800-meter freestyle. South Carolina also had strong representation in the diving portion of the competition, with Julia Vincent making South African history with her 12th-place finish in the 3-meter final.
