Columbia, SC - South Carolina divers Courtney Forcucci and Rylan Ridenour will both compete at the 2011 AT&T National Diving Championships after qualifying at the 2011 USA Diving National Preliminaries Zone A Championships held July 15-17 in Christiansburg, Virginia. Only the top five finishers at the Zone Championships qualify for the national event. Forcucci, a rising senior for the Gamecocks, earned a 249.90 with five dives in the Senior Women 1-meter Springboard event, which earned a second-place finish. Junior Ridenour also finished second as he garnered a 324.85 over six dives in the Senior Men 1-meter Springboard event. Forcucci has already qualified to compete in the 3-meter Springboard and will be participating in both the 1-meter and 3-meter board events at the National Diving Championships. "I'm really impressed with Rylan right now," head diving coach Todd Sherritt said. "With his finish in Zones he's shown himself to be a major national talent. I'm excited about what he's going to do in the near future. "Courtney continues to do extremely well. To get in on the 1-meter board is a great feat. Her top board is going to be the 3-meter where she's already qualified for Olympic trials," said Sherritt. Incoming South Carolina freshman Kasey Catalfomo had a strong showing and finished ninth in the Senior Women 1-meter Springboard event with a score of 202.60. "I'm so impressed with (Kasey) and her competitive nature. She just competes unbelievably. You see her practice and you see her at a meet and she dives better at a meet than practice. I'm really excited about her." The 2011 AT&T National Diving Championships will be held at the Spieker Aquatics Center at UCLA from August 9 to 15.
