COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina senior Rylan Ridenour has been named the SEC Male Diver of the Week after a record-setting performance over the weekend, the conference announced Tuesday.
Ridenour earns the honor after sweeping the boards last Friday against College of Charleston, Queens and Wingate. He broke his own school record on the three-meter springboard with a score of 446.95 on Senior Day, accomplishing the feat almost a year to the day that he set the old mark of 427.43 (Jan. 27, 2012). Ridenour also won the one-meter competition with a career-best 395.90, which was 5.75 points shy of the school record. His three-meter score currently ranks first in the SEC, and his one-meter score ranks fourth in the conference.
A native of Lebanon, Ind., Ridenour earns the honor for the second time this season and sixth time in his career.
Ridenour and the Gamecocks will close out the regular season this Saturday in a double dual meet in Tuscaloosa, Ala., against Alabama and Georgia. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
