Assistant Coach

Randi Vogel enters her fourth season as an assistant coach at South Carolina. She will work with training groups, create training programs for the stroke groups and will assume the role of camp director.

Vogel joined the Gamecock staff after serving in the same capacity at Missouri the previous two seasons. Vogel helped guide Missouri to back-to-back third-place finishes at the Big 12 Championships during her time with the Tigers.

Prior to coaching at Missouri, Vogel was an assistant at Cincinnati from 2008-10. The highlight of her tenure with the Bearcats came in 2010 when she worked with sprinter Josh Schneider, who won the 50 freestyle at the NCAA Championships that season. Schneider was a finalist in the 50-meter freestyle at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials. Vogel also stayed busy during the summer at Cincinnati as she coached the Masters Swim Team in 2009 and was an instructor at the West Point Swim Camp in the summers of 2008 and 2009.

From 2007-08 Vogel worked as an agency assistant for Hendricks Sports Management in Houston, Texas. Her main duties included assisting with travel, equipment, contracts and database creation. In 2004 she was an age group swim coach for 8-11 year olds with the Cincinnati Marlins.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Vogel began her collegiate career at Tennessee, swimming two seasons for the Lady Vols. She went on to finish her career at Cincinnati, where she was named team captain as a senior and earned the Bearcat Leadership Award on two occasions. She completed her degree in communications in 2007.

Vogel's parents both have strong swimming backgrounds as well. Her father, John Vogel, was a member of Tennessee's swimming team from 1974-77, while her mother, Diane Johannigman, earned All-America honors at Houston and is the former American and World record holder in the 100 butterfly.
