The Gamecocks have a storied history that dates back to 1974, the first season of intercollegiate competition for South Carolina in softball. The program has made eight national College World Series Appearances (five AIAW and three NCAA), 15 NCAA Regionals and one NCAA Super Regional. The 1997 SEC Champion, South Carolina claims four SEC Eastern Division crowns and two SEC Tournament championships. Fourteen Gamecocks in history have garnered All-American accolades, and 13 have made the All-SEC squads since the league's adoption of softball in 1997.
