Colonial Life Arena
Colonial Life Arena, home of the South Carolina men's and women's basketball teams, is one of the finest sports and entertainment venues in the Southeast. In front of a program-record crowd of 17,712 fans, the Gamecock women's basketball team christened the arena on Nov. 22, 2002, with a 72-58 defeat of archrival Clemson. The $65 million facility boasts an intimate double-deck design that puts every seat close to the action and a multi-million dollar scoreboard with four high-definition video screens. While the venue is primarily home to the Gamecock basketball programs, it also plays host to other sporting events such as NBA and NHL exhibition games in addition to big name concerts by the likes of Prince, Kanye West, and Bruce Springsteen. Seating 18,000 for basketball and 19,000 for other events,the Colonial Life Arena is the largest arena in the state and was the 10th-largest on-campus basketball facility at the time of its opening.
