Reading Program

The regional Read with the Gamecocks reading program will continue to promote literacy by creating a three-segment reading program. With this year's plan, the program will be divided into three individual segments that offer students three opportunities to Read with the Gamecocks, and incentives to attend three South Carolina basketball games/three special events with the Gamecocks.

Students in the region in grades K-8

Each student will record the number of pages read during the contest on the Reading Log sheets provided (parents or guardians should initial the student's reading sheet). Please total the number of pages read on the Reading Log and help maintain the integrity of the program by ensuring the child is reading age appropriate material. The visits to the winning schools or organizations (team members will only be allowed to visit schools within a 30-mile radius of the University of South Carolina (Columbia campus) per NCAA compliance regulations).

This person should collect the CLASSROOM TOTALS and then compile the information for the SCHOOL TOTAL and FAX them to our office at 803-777-2967 by the dates below. If you have difficulty sending your fax, please contact us at to make alternate arrangements.
