USWNT January Camp Roster

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Recent South Carolina graduate Savannah McCaskill will participate in the U.S. Women’s National Team’s first training camp of 2018, USWNT coach Jill Ellis announced Wednesday. McCaskill will train at the team’s January Camp for the second-straight year.

The former Gamecock standout will share the field with 25 of the world’s best players during the 15-day event that takes place Jan. 6-21 at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center in Carson, Calif. The camp will conclude with a match against Denmark at San Diego County Credit Union Stadium on Jan. 21 at 4:30 p.m. PT. The contest against the Danish will air on ESPN.

“We’re expecting a competitive and highly energized camp in Los Angeles,” Ellis said. “This stretch of testing, training and a competitive match will provide a good platform to begin 2018.”

McCaskill, a nominee for the U.S. Soccer’s 2017 Young Female of the Year award, competed for the U.S. U-23 squad throughout last year. She captained the team at the La Manga Tournament last March and found the back of the net in her U.S. Soccer debut, tallying the game-winner in a 2-0 victory over Japan. McCaskill notched another goal for the U.S. U-23 team in the squad’s scrimmage against the NWSL’s Houston Dash last spring.

The three-time All-American closed her decorated collegiate career in December after leading the Gamecocks to the College Cup. She finished her time in Carolina ranked in program history third in points (114), and her 17 game-winners stand as the most ever by a Gamecock. Carolina captured the SEC Regular-Season Title in each of McCaskill’s last two years, and the Chapin, S.C., native was tabbed the league’s Offensive Player of the Year in 2016 and 2017.
