No. 13 Gamecocks Host Two SEC Opponents

COLUMBIA, S.C. — No. 13 South Carolina women’s tennis team returns home to host two SEC opponents this weekend. The Gamecocks (13-5, 4-3) will face No. 12 Auburn Friday, March 31 at 5 p.m. and No. 34 Alabama Sunday, April 2 at 1 p.m., both at the Carolina Tennis Center.

GAMECOCK NOTABLES

  • The Gamecocks boast two ranked in singles play; Ingrid Gamarra Martins (36) and Mia Horvit (75).
  • The doubles pairing of Paige Cline and Hadley Berg is ranked No. 42 nationally.
  • The Gamecocks are 4-2 at home this season, both losses coming from top-10 opponents.
  • Berg is 14-0 in singles play, boasting the best record in the SEC.
  • Martins added a 2-0 record on the weekend, increasing her singles record to 17-6 overall and 5-2 in dual play.
  • Senior Brigit Folland has racked up three straight singles victories, including a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 last weekend, en route to an 11-2 spring record.
  • Kevin Epley is in his fifth season with the Gamecocks.

QUICK HITS: NO. 12 Auburn

  • The Tigers are 18-6 overall and 2-5 in the SEC this season, coming off a 4-3 loss to Kentucky at home.

Scouting No. 34 Alabama

  • The Tide is 7-11 in the spring and 1-7 in league play, taking a 1-6 loss to Vanderbilt Sunday, March 26.
  • Alabama’s one league victory comes from a 4-2 triumph over Kentucky last weekend.
  • Ranked singles: Erin Routliffe (38).
  • Ranked doubles: Routliffe and Maddie Pothoff (25).
  • Jenny Mainz has been with the Crimson tide for 19 seasons.

After this weekend’s competitions, the Gamecocks will host Mississippi St. and Ole Miss next weekend in their final home matches of the season.
