Oct. 2, 2016

BELTON, S.C. – Freshman Scotty Cameron highlighted the third and final day at the South Carolina Collegiate Invitational for the Gamecocks on Sunday. The Mount Pleasant, S.C. native collected the Flight B singles title with a win over Lander’s David Korsten.

Cameron battled back from a first set loss to take down Korsten, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 to capture his first career collegiate singles title. In the Flight A draw, Wood Benton cruised past Winthrop’s Gabriel Dias, 6-3, 6-2 in the consolation final. Sam Swank’s consolation match did not finish due to his opponent defaulting.

Cameron now carries a 5-1 record in singles through the first two weekends of the fall season, while Swank sits at 5-2. Benton bounced back from an 0-2 outing at the Southern Intercollegiates to go 3-1 this weekend in Belton.
