Match Play Bracket | Live Scoring

PINEHURST, N.C. – South Carolina women’s golf rising senior Katelyn Dambaugh notched two match-play victories on Thursday at Pinehurst Resort to advance to the semifinals of the 114^th North & South Women’s Amateur Championship. The Goose Creek, S.C., native moved past Kacie Komoto, 2&1, in the round of 16 before tallying a 5&3 quarterfinal win over Yujeong Son.

Dambaugh, the No. 11 seed in the match play bracket, will face 15^th-seeded Malia Nam Friday morning on Pinehurst No. 2. Nam knocked off No. 2 Maddie Szeryk, 3&1, in her first match of the day, and she took down seventh-seeded Jaclyn Lee, 2&1, in her quarterfinal match.

Tomorrow’s contest will mark Dambaugh’s second-straight appearance in the semifinals of the tournament. The action gets underway at 7:08 a.m. ET, and live scoring of the match can be found Here. A victory Friday morning will pit Dambaugh or Nam against either No. 9 Kristen Gillman or No. 4 Jennifer Chang in the 18-hole championship match, set for tomorrow afternoon.

Round of 16 (No. 6 Kacie Komoto vs. No. 11 Katelyn Dambaugh)
Dambaugh grabbed the lead out of the gate, going 1-up following Komoto’s bogey on the par-4 first. A bogey on No. 5 by Dambaugh squared the match, and Komoto took her first lead of the morning after Dambaugh’s double-bogey on No. 6. Komoto’s fifth bogey of the match came on No. 9 and pulled Dambaugh even before the two made the turn.

Another bogey by Komoto on No. 12 gave the lead back to Dambaugh, and the advantage stretched to 2-up following the Gamecock standout’s birdie on No. 15. Dambaugh secured the victory after equaling Komoto’s score on Nos. 16 and 17.

Quarterfinals (No. 11 Katelyn Dambaugh vs. No. 14 Yujeong Son)
Following pars by both golfers on Nos. 1 and 2, Dambaugh won each of the next three holes to take control of the match. A birdie on the par-3 fourth put her 1-up, and the lead grew after Son recorded a bogey on No. 4 and a double-bogey on No. 5.

Dambaugh remained 3-up after 12 holes, and her birdie on the par-4 14th pushed the advantage to 4-up. She closed out the match and clinched a spot in the semifinals with a par on No. 15.
