COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina volleyball assistant coach Dottie Hampton was recognized as one of four members elected to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Hall of Fame Class of 2016, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Hampton was a two-sport athlete for the Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne Mastodons, competing in basketball and volleyball. She was a three-time all-conference honoree and led her team to a pair of GLVC championships (in 1994 and 1996). She capped her volleyball career by earning the GLVC Player of the Year award in 1997 and was an AVCA Division II All-American. Following her collegiate career, Hampton played professionally in the European Professional league, playing in Finland, Italy, Portugal and Turkey from 1998-2001 before moving into coaching full-time.

She is set to begin her third season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Gamecocks this fall. Prior to her arrival in Columbia, she had successful stops at Indiana, George Mason, Pittsburgh, Butler and Niagara.

Already a 2010 member of IPFW’s hall of fame, Hampton will be formally inducted into the conference’s hall this spring.
