WILMINGTON, N.C. ââ’¬” South Carolina women’s golfer Katelyn Dambaugh continued her steady play at the Landfall Tradition on Saturday, as the junior carded an even (72) in the second round of the three-day event. The Gamecocks, who posted a 304 (+16) on day two at the Country Club of Landfall Dye Course, will enter Sunday’s final round in 11th place (605, +29).

Dambaugh (T-7, E) carded four birdies in round two, starting on the par-4 11th. Her second birdie of the afternoon came on No. 18, and she made the turn at 1-over (37) before recording a 35 (-1) on her back nine after birdies on No. 4 and 8. The Goose Creek, S.C., native’s eight birdies through two rounds rank third in the field this week.

Sarah Schmelzel, who opened the tournament with a 1-under (71) fired a 5-over (77) on Saturday and currently sits in a tie for 23rd place at 4-over. The South Carolina senior made the turn at 3-over (39), but battled back over the last nine holes, tallying birdies on two of her final four holes (No. 6 and 8).

Freshman Isidora Nilsson (T-66, +12) tallied her second-straight 78 (+6) after finishing round two with two birdies and six bogeys, while sophomore Ainhoa Olarra posted a 5-over (77). Olarra sits in a tie for 74th (+14), and junior Jia Xin Yang will enter the third round in a tie for 84th (+17) following a 9-over (81) performance on Saturday.

Duke extended its lead in the second round and sits atop the leaderboard with a score of 5-under for the tournament. Oklahoma (+9) occupies second place, while Alabama (+9) and Notre Dame (+9) sit in third through two days of competition. The Fighting Irish’s Isabella DiLisio boasts the low individual score (-7) following her 2-under (70) on Saturday.
