CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The South Carolina women’s golf team wrapped up day two at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational on Saturday, firing a 22-over (310) at the UNC Finley Golf Course. The Gamecocks will enter Sunday’s final round in 13th place at 33-over for the tournament.

Senior Sarah Schmelzel, who carded an even (72) on Friday, tallied a 4-over (76) in her second round. She remained even on the day through four holes after registering a birdie on No. 13, and she made the turn at 2-over (38) following bogeys on No. 15 and 18. The Phoenix, Ariz., native collected 12 pars on Saturday and currently sits in a tie for 17th place (4-over) overall.

Katelyn Dambaugh turned in South Carolina’s low round on day two, as she finished with a 3-over (75). The junior earned pars on 14 of her 18 holes and tallied her lone birdie of the day on the par-four 16th. Dambaugh (6-over) will head into the last round in a tie for 33rd place.

Sophomore Ainhoa Olarra posted a 6-over (78) and currently sits in 48th place (9-over) for the week, while freshman Isidora Nilsson shot a 10-over (82) to bring her two-day total to 153 (T48). Fellow freshman Gaby Amos is tied for 85th place after a 9-over (81) on Saturday.

Duke (2-over) sits atop the leaderboard following a 5-over (77) performance in round two. Arkansas (13-over) carded the only round under par on Saturday to move into a tie for second with Louisville, while N.C. State and Michigan State both sit in fourth place at 16-over for the week. Duke’s Leona Maguire shot an even 72 and holds the individual lead (3-under) through two days.
