THE WOODLANDS, Texas — South Carolina incoming freshman Keenan Huskey fell to John Augenstein, 1 down, in the opening round of match play at the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship on Wednesday at The Club at Carlton Woods.

Huskey led 1 up through three holes, but Augenstein came back to take a 1 up lead on No. 4 and went 3 up through 13 holes. Huskey fought back to cut it to 1 down with one hole to play, but both golfers made par on the par-5 18th, giving Augenstein a 1 up victory.

A native of Greenville, S.C., Huskey was one of 156 golfers to qualify for the championship. He advanced to match play by finishing tied for 31st after two rounds of stroke play with a total of 146 (+2).
