Southern Cal Series Notes
The Gamecocks and Trojans have met just once before tonight’s game, all the way back in the 1979-80 season. The then-No. 6 Gamecocks traveled to Los Angeles as part of the AIAW Tournament and defeated Southern Cal 70-60 on March 12, 1980. South Carolina went on to finish third in the national tournament that season, missing out on a spot in the title game by three points to future SEC rival Tennessee in the semifinals.
