COLUMBIA, Mo. – South Carolina (18-14, 1-8 SEC) dropped both ends of Saturday’s doubleheader at No. 7/6 Missouri (20-2, 7-1 SEC), falling 12-3 in five in game one before an 8-0 (5) loss in game two at University Field.

The Tigers’ Angela Randazzo had three homers on the night, including two in the opener, driving in nine of Missouri’s runs. Corrin Genovese added a two-run homer in game one and a double in game two.

In the first game, the Tigers put three on the board in the second, one on Mackenzie Sykes’ RBI double before Corrin Genovese hit the 3-1 pitch over the left-field wall. Five more crossed in the third, three on Randazzo’s first homer of the night. South Carolina posted three in the fourth, two on redshirt sophomore Julie Sarratt’s double and another on senior Shelby Gonzales’ groundout. But Randazzo struck again in the bottom of the fourth, making it 10-3 with her one-out, two-run homer. Rachel Hay had a two-run double as well to give Missouri the 12-3 win.

Chelsea Thomas (12-1), who won both games for Missouri, tossed a shutout in game two, giving up four hits and three walks while fanning eight in the win, The Tigers posted six runs in the first, two coming on Randazzo’s homer. Genovese, Sarah Moore and Emily Crane also had RBI in the first, while Randazzo doubled home two more runs in the third.

South Carolina redshirt senior Audrey Broyles (7-5) took the game one loss, giving up seven earned runs on seven hits and a walk in two-plus innings. Sarratt (2-2) got charged the loss in game two, giving up six runs, three earned on four hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning.

Gamecock senior Samie Garcia went 3-for-6 on the night, getting a double in game one. Sarratt also had a hit in both games, including the RBI double in the first.

Starting a 10-game home stand, South Carolina hosts Appalachian State on Wed., April 3 at Carolina Softball Stadium at Beckham Field. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. EDT.
