Head Coach Ray Tanner
On Joel Seddon
“The fact that he has been out there now a little bit and has gotten some more experience is a big deal for us. He not only gave us a quality start, but he is one of those guys that can field his position. He is very athletic. He’s a guy that can go in there and handle a bunt situation. It’s been nice to get him some more experience. He battled hard for us. He gave us five quality innings, maybe could have gone one more, but he was tired a little bit. It was good to see. We need him to be a guy of the future and you need some experience to be that guy, and lately he has been able to go out there and get that quality experience.”

On playing Georgia this weekend…
“Georgia is a team that has been playing very well lately. They swept last weekends opponent and may have one of the best starters in the conference in Alex Wood, a dominant left-hander who has risen in the draft charts and is going to be a pretty high pick. It’s going to be an SEC weekend on the road and it’s going to be very difficult series for us, but we’ve been playing pretty well. We just need to go out there and not make any mistakes and try to continue to pitch well and play good defense.”

Joel Seddon
On getting two mid-week starts…
“I’m feeling really confident. I thought that tonight I did a little better than my outing last Wednesday. I definitely thought there were improvements throwing strikes. I got my change-up over a little bit more than I did last outing so I’m feeling good.”

On this outing against Furman compared to the last one…
“My last Furman outing wasn’t the greatest. I thought I did a little better this time. I kind of tried to pitch with confidence. After about the first inning I thought I was feeling pretty good with all my pitches. It was definitely a better outing than last time.”

Evan Marzilli
On two home runs against Furman…
“I just had a good pitch to hit tonight and got the bat on it. They are a good team. I’ve just had two good games against them. There is nothing more than that about it.”

On facing strong pitching against Georgia…
“Georgia is going to be a great team this weekend. We just have to be aggressive and go up there and swing the bats. We know they are going to be great pitchers, but we face great pitchers every week. We just have to go up there with an aggressive mindset and put the ball in play.”
