COLUMBIA, S.C. – Declarations for the NCAA East Preliminary Track and Field Championships have been announced with South Carolina qualifying 26 entries into the meet that will be held May 24-26 at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.

The women’s team qualified 14 entries between 12 athletes, in addition to the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. The men’s team qualified 12 entries between 10 athletes, in addition to both relays as well. Of the women’s individual bids, four are seniors, one is a junior, four are sophomores and three are freshmen. Of the men’s individual bids, three are seniors, one is a junior, three are sophomores and three are freshman.

For the third straight season, the country has been split into two regions – East and West – with the top 48 athletes in a region qualifying for the Preliminary Round. The East Preliminary will be held in Jacksonville, Fla., and the West Preliminary will be held in Austin, Texas. The top 12 finishers in an event at each regional preliminary will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships that will be held June 6-9 in Des Moines, Iowa.
