BATON ROUGE, La. – South Carolina freshman Sarah Graham began her first SEC Outdoor Championships appearance with a strong showing in the women’s heptathlon Thursday afternoon at Bernie Moore Track Stadium on the campus of the Louisiana State University.

Graham finished four of the seven-event heptathlon with 2,756 points after competing in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meter run.

Graham began the day in the 100-meter hurdles where she crossed the line at 15.12 to earn 783 points in her first appearance at the SEC Outdoor Championships. She bounced back in the high jump with a clearance of 5’4 ½ (1.64m), matching her collegiate best in the event for a sixth-place finish with 783 points.

The heptathletes moved to the shot put for the third of four events on the day with Graham tossing a best mark of 28’2 ¾ (8.60m) for 438 points. Her day ended three hours after it began with a collegiate-best 27.04 in the 200-meter dash to collect 708 points.

Graham will conclude the heptathlon competition Friday afternoon with the 800-meter dash, javelin throw and long jump beginning at 2:15 p.m. (CT). The first Gamecocks to hit the track Friday will be the women’s hammer throw trio of Breanna Radford, Stacee Roberts and Katie Vuckovich.
