TULSA, Okla. – The 23rd-ranked and top-seeded South Carolina men’s soccer team (9-7-2) suffered a 1-0 loss to fifth-seeded SMU (12-6-1) in the semifinals of the Conference USA Tournament on Friday at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Complex in Tulsa, Okla.

South Carolina held a 13-6 upperhand in shots in the match, including a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. Junior forward Mike Mangotic paced the Gamecock offense with three shots, while sophomore forward Bradlee Baladez and sophomore midfielder Chipper Root both registered two shots in the contest.

SMU’s Ben Hill earned the game winner in the 27th minute on an assist from T.J. Nelson. The tally came on a shot from two-yards out of frame.

SMU tallied 13 fouls against 11 by Carolina in the match.
