GAMECOCK SOCCER CAMPS

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s soccer coach Shelley Smith has announced that her staff will conduct six summer soccer camps this year beginning in June. The staff will offer two sessions each of a Full and Half Day Camp, a Developmental Skills Camp and an Identification & Advanced Skills Camp this summer to help facilitate mental and physical growth in the development of soccer skills.

The Day Camp for will be offered for both girls and boys for the first time this year and will hold two weeklong sessions: June 20-24 and July 25-29. Two options for the Day Camp will be available: a Half Day Camp (ages 5-12) and a Full Day Camp (ages 8-12). In these camps, players will be grouped by both age and skill level so that each child is challenged but not overwhelmed.

The Developmental Skills Camps will hold two weekend residential sessions: June 17-19 and July 22-24. The Developmental Skills campers will be separated between field players and goalkeepers with the camps held in conjunction with each other. Each camp focuses on developing players’ technical and tactical abilities and are available for campers who are in grades 5-8 as of the Fall 2011 school year.

The Identification & Advanced Skills Camp: “The Complete Player” will also hold two weekend sessions on June 17-19 and July 22-24. These camps, for those in grades 8-12 as of the Fall 2011 school year, are residential camps designed to challenge players both mentally and physically for top-level soccer. The goal of the camp is to stimulate a top collegiate training environment and is geared for soccer players looking to play at the collegiate level.

Those interested in participating will be able to find additional information and register online HERE. For more information or questions about any of the sessions, please contact the soccer office at (803) 777-1940. Discounts are available for teams, commuters and for individuals signing up for both sessions of a camp.
