Post Game Quotes vs. Wofford
Dec. 5, 2010

South Carolina Head Coach Darrin Horn
Opening Statement
This was a good win for our team for a lot of reasons. First of all, Wofford is an excellent basketball team, they’re a veteran team, a team that’s going to compete for a championship in their league and go to the NCAA tournament. We had a lot of guys contribute. I thought our bench was huge again tonight and probably the difference in the game. I think we continue to find ways to win and stretch it out at the end. We still have a lot of work to do; we had a couple turnovers late that we didn’t need. They fouled Lakeem Jackson late on purpose and he went to the line and got us one out of two, at least every time. We got some big stops and made some big plays that we needed. We’re starting to see some growth and maturity in this team and we’ve got a lot of room to get better as well. A total team effort and win, which I think is going to be our strength. They didn’t play a lot of guys and I think that affected them towards the end. We’re very happy to get this one.

On Sam Muldrow’s play
I can’t say enough about Sam Muldrow tonight. I thought individually he was probably the difference. He was playing like a senior that doesn’t want to lose at home should play. He got every big rebound when it counted; hit the big shot down the stretch. He was really outstanding tonight.

South Carolina Player Quotes
Sam Muldrow

On his first half performance
We just came out ready to play tonight. I just wanted to help my team do what we needed to do to win.

Bruce Ellington
On the aggressive style of play from both teams
We got together and told each other to stay focused and just do what we did in the first half. We have to just come out and do what we can to win.

On the Wofford run to start the second half
(Coach Horn) told us to just come in and keep doing what we’re doing. Just stay focused, block out, defend, and rebound. And that’s what we did.

Wofford Head Coach Mike Young
Opening Comments
We couldn’t quite get all the way back in the game tonight. We tied the ball game by playing the way we had hoped to play for 40 minutes. We distributed the basketball and got rhythm shots but we slowly reverted back to some poor shot selection. South Carolina certainly had something to do with that, but I would be less than honest if I didn’t say I was disappointed by the way we played.

On Wofford’s performance
They played better than our team did, and just made better plays down the stretch. (Bruce) Ellington is very good in the open floor and that really hurt us in the first half.

We never could get over the hump, we couldn’t get the lead and get the ball back with stops on the defensive end. I thought we were very porous on the defensive end of the floor, and we have lots of work here to do moving ahead.

On the play of Sam Muldrow
Muldrow’s length was a big problem for us inside. He blocked a few shots and altered several others. The two 3’s that he made in the second half were big momentum plays.
