AMES, Iowa – The South Carolina 4×400-meter relay team of Brandi Cross, Nadonnia Rodrigues, Gabrielle Glenn and Breehana Jacobs did their part to solidify a bid to next week’s NCAA Indoor Championships after winning the event with the nation’s sixth-fastest time at 3:34.62 at the Iowa State Last Chance Meet.

The men’s 4×400-meter relay team of Obakeng Ngwigwa, Johnny Dutch, Aaron Anderson and Quentin Moore improved its national standing by taking fourth at a season best 3:08.97.

Five individual Gamecocks also competed at Iowa State in the final track meet before bids are announced for the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships that will be held in Fayetteville, Ark. Three women competed in the 60-meter dash with Glenn winning the event at 7.36, Jacobs taking fourth at 7.49 and Kelsey McCorkle hitting a top time of 7.86.

Rodrigues also ran a season best in the 400-meter dash by taking third at 53.40, moving her into contention for a bid to nationals.

Junior hurdler Johnny Dutch was the only member of the men’s team to compete at Iowa State. He ran a season best 7.79 in the 60-meter hurdles to take third overall.
