COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina women’s tennis senior Gira Schofield and junior Ana Marija Zubori were named to the All-SEC Team, the league announced Tuesday.

Schofield earned a spot on the All-SEC Second Team for the third time in her career. In doing so, she became the first Gamecock in school history to earn All-SEC recognition four consecutive seasons. Schofield was a first-team selection as a sophomore in 2007.

Currently ranked No. 46 in the nation, Schofield owns a 19-12 record this season and went 13-9 in dual matches at the No. 1 singles position. She reached a career-high ranking of 19th earlier this spring and has defeated seven ranked players on the season. For her career, Schofield ranks fifth in school history in doubles victories and combined singles and doubles wins.

Zubori received her third consecutive citation and her first as a member of the All-SEC First Team. Earlier this spring, Zubori ascended as high as No. 14 in the nation in singles, falling one short of the school record. She is currently ranked No. 43 in singles and No. 37 for doubles with senior Natasa Vuckovic, and the pair has been as high as No. 33.

Zubori owns the Gamecocks’ top record in singles this season at 26-5. She is 18-3 in dual matches at the No. 2 singles slot and went an impressive 9-2 in SEC matches. Almost half of Zubori’s victories have come against ranked players with a 12-3 record. She earned the team’s MVP award at the Gamecock Gala on Monday, marking the second time in three years she has picked up the honor.
