Game Preview
Saturday’s contest between South Carolina and USC Upstate marks the first between the two schools. The squads did meet in an exhibition contest in November 2004, when Carolina managed an 81-63 victory over the Spartans, who then competed in the NCAA Division II ranks. South Carolina enters the game with a 2-0 record, having defeated Jacksonville State (89-76) in its season opener last Friday and Winthrop (86-63) in a Sunday matinee. The Spartans are 0-2 thus far in 2008, dropping a 72-48 contest to Georgia in their season opener, and falling 94-58 to ninth-ranked Notre Dame last Sunday.

Saturday’s contest will be televised by SportSouth with Mike Morgan calling play-by-play and Eddie Fogler, former South Carolina head coach (1994-2001), handling color analyst duties. SportSouth, the nation’s sixth-largest regional sports network, reaches more than nine million cable and satellite homes across a six-state region. Through its affiliates and other Fox Networks Group-owned networks, FSN reaches more than 70 million homes through 16 owned-and-operated networks. The contest against USC Upstate marks the third of 22 televised South Carolina contests this season, including 14 home matchups.

Series Information – USC UPSTATE
Saturday marks the first meeting between the USC Upstate Spartans and the South Carolina Gamecocks. Both schools are part of the University of South Carolina system.
