TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Senior Gira Schofield of the South Carolina women’s tennis team advanced to the final of the crimson draw at the SEC Fall Coaches Classic on Friday in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Schofield defeated Jackie Wu from Vanderbilt in the semis 6-4, 6-3. She will face Melissa Koning from Auburn in the championship match Saturday.

In the gold singles flight, Gamecock freshman Ashley Miller suffered a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 loss to Nicole Kantor from LSU in a consolation match.

Schofield and Miller lost their opening-round doubles match-up with Cameron Ellis and Naoko Ueshima from Georgia 8-3 in the white flight and fell by the same score to Catherine Newman and Wu of Vanderbilt in a consolation match.
