Recap | Box Score

South Carolina Head Coach Susan Walvius
Demetress Adams spoke to our team at pre-game today. She talked to them about confidence. She said all the right things; basically took responsibility and I thought tonight she put the team on her back. To watch her rebound the basketball the way that she did and defend like she did tonight, 26 rebounds is incredible and to break a record that is 33-years-old.”

On what was successful offensively
“We have to pass inside, and I thought our team did a decent job of that. The Arkansas team defensively would guard it with three to four people. It forces you to bring it back out and take the outside shot.”

“Arkansas is a good team, and they’ve had a lot of success. They started out 16-0, so this is a good win for us. Our kids really banged and did their jobs.

On the impact getting the first SEC win has on the team’s goals
I don’t think our goals have ever been out of focus, but it has to take the monkey off their back.”

“It’s frustrating not winning an SEC game [until today] because we have been working hard. I have been thinking about how hard we have been working and what we are missing.

On breaking the school record for single-game rebounds
“I was surprised. I didn’t even know that I had 26 rebounds. I just went to the boards and did what my team needed me to do.”

Arkansas Head Coach Tom Collen
“Our greatest weakness as a team is South Carolina’s strength, especially with [Lakesha] Tolliver back. And when they put three kids with size out there, it makes them that much stronger.”

“It makes a big difference when your biggest rebounder [Lauren Ervin] is out. And because we depended on her so much, it shows that we weren’t doing such a good job boxing out all along. We are going to have to go into the gym and learn how to put bodies on people.”

“We missed some easy shots. We had kick-out three’s that we missed and some easy lay-ups. They (South Carolina) make you alter your shots and get you off balance.”
