COLUMBIA – South Carolina sophomore Patrick Rada will be named 2007 South Carolina Golf Association Player of the Year at a banquet at Columbia Country Club Saturday. In the year-long competition, Rada scored 233.8 points including victories in two tournaments and two other top-five finishes.

Rada was the SCGA Four Ball Tournament champion and claimed the title at the Carolina Golf Association Carolinas Amateur Tournament as well. He advanced to the semifinals of CGA Match Play and took fifth place in the SCGA Amateur.

For the Gamecocks this season, Rada opened the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate with a career-best 68 and finished 57th. He went 1-2-1 in the Callaway Golf Collegiate Match Play event, helping the Gamecocks to a fourth-place finish.

The Gamecocks return to the course in February at the John Hayt Invitational, which tees off on the 17th at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Verde Beach, Fla.
