COLUMBIA, S.C. – Carolina closes out the regular season at home this weekend against Southeastern Conference Western Division foes Mississippi State and Alabama. The Gamecocks host the Bulldogs on Friday night for a 7 p.m. match at the Volleyball Competition Facility, while the Crimson Tide come in for Sunday’s match, set for a 1 p.m. start. Fox Sports Net will show the Alabama match live on three of its regional outlets.

The Bulldogs rank fourth in the SEC Western Division, but they took down rival Mississippi last Sunday, 3-1. Alabama enters the weekend one game out of first in the West, tied with the Rebels as they both chase LSU for the division title.

All-Time Versus Mississippi State: South Carolina has an 19-8 mark against the SEC Western Division Bulldogs. The Gamecocks own a 10-3 mark against State at home, but the Maroon and White were able to get a victory in Columbia last season.

All-Time Versus Alabama: The Crimson Tide hold an 18-12 lead in the all-time series, which dates back to 1979. However, the Gamecocks have a 7-4 advantage in matches in Columbia. Alabama has won eight of the last nine contests, with Carolina’s lone win in the stretch coming in a five-game thriller at the Volleyball Competition Facility on Nov. 13, 2005. The Gamecocks came back from a 2-0 deficit to take the win.

Salters Stalking Spots on Career Lists: Junior middle blocker Belita Salters is working her way into the Carolina record books this season. Her 49 career solo blocks ties her for eighth all-time with Toni Venturini. Her 1.10 blocks per frame puts her seventh all-time, 0.02 in back of Lauren Ford. The Scranton, S.C., native also stands just four percentage points from putting herself on the hitting percentage charts.
