COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina women’s basketball program and Gamecock Sports Properties announced today that alumnus Brad Muller will serve as the new radio play-by-play voice for Carolina women’s basketball. Muller joins forces with fifth-year radio analyst Robin Muller, no relation, on the broadcasts.

“This is a dream come true for me,” Muller said. “I’m excited to expand my role with my alma mater by calling women’s basketball games. It’s an absolute thrill, and I can’t wait to get started.”

With more than 13 years of play-by-play experience, Muller worked most recently on the web broadcasts of South Carolina softball as the interim play-by-play announcer and on the pay-per-view South Carolina football games as the color analyst. He has worked in either radio or university communications since graduating from South Carolina in 1992.

Muller got his start as a field reporter at WVOC Radio in Columbia and later spent nearly three years as the sports director at WMVG/MKZR Radio in Milledgeville, Ga. He transitioned into university media relations as the assistant athletics director for public relations/sports information director at Georgia College and State University. After 10 years with the Bobcats, Muller returned to his alma mater in October 2006 as the senior director of communications for the University of South Carolina Alumni Association.

“It is great to be able to add someone with such knowledge and passion to the radio team,” Gamecock Sports Properties general manager Liz McMillan said. “Brad’s experience and commitment to the University made him the obvious choice as the play-by-play voice for women’s basketball.”

Muller replaces Brad Heller, who moved on to the broadcast team at the University of North Carolina after one year with the Gamecocks.

Each of South Carolina’s women’s basketball games are broadcast live on WISW 1320 AM radio locally in Columbia and can be heard worldwide via the internet at GamecocksOnline.com. Broadcasts begin with the Gamecocks’ regular-season opener on Fri., Nov. 9, against Saint Francis (Pa.). Tipoff is slated for 5:30 p.m.
