CARMEL, IND. – South Carolina’s Taylor Barrett struggled like the majority of the field Tuesday and missed the first round of cuts after shooting a 10-over 82 in the second round at the 107th U.S. Women’s Amateur, held at the par-72 Crooked Stick Golf Club. Barrett carded a 76-82=158 (+14) and finished tied for 113th in her first career appearance at the Women’s Am.

Kristina Wong and Stacy Lewis lead the field with identical scores 70-60=139 (-5). Only 12 golfers in the field of 154 shot under par Tuesday.

Barrett, teeing off from the 10th hole, started strong with a birdie on the par-5 11th hole that she bogeyed the day before. However, bogeys in five of the next six holes dropped her out of contention at the end of the turn. After stringing together four consecutive pars, Barrett double-bogeyed the fifth hole and strung together three bogeys to end the round after hitting a birdie on the sixth.

The top 64 players advanced to Wednesday’s third round. After four rounds of match play, the remaining two players will go head-to-head for 36 holes of match play for the Championship title on Sunday, Aug. 12.
