<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina golfers Taylor Barrett and Blythe Worley posted Top 25 finishes at the 2007 Women’s East Amateur Championship, held at the par-72 Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Virginia. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Worley, a senior from Greenville, N.C., carded a 76-72-76=244 (+8) to finish 15th in the 80-person field. Barrett, a sophomore from York, S.C., carded a 72-74-81=227 (+11) to finish tied for 22nd.

Natalie Sheary, a rising freshman at Wake Forest University, won the event with a 70-75-69=214 (-2).

The Championship is open to female amateur golfers with a certified handicap index of 11.5 or less and who belong to a Women’s Eastern Golf Association (WEGA) Member Club (or have school affiliation) that has paid dues for 2007. USC is the lone Southeastern Conference representative affiliated with the WEGA.
