Lexington, Ky. – The South Carolina Gamecocks qualified ten swimmers into the third day of SEC Championship finals this morning. Five of those qualifiers finished eighth or higher and will be competing in championship heats this evening.

The Gamecocks qualified four swimmers in the 400 IM preliminaries. Junior Kyle Cormier is seeded eleventh, after a preliminary time of 3:55.99, and freshman Andrew Atzhorn is seeded sixteenth, with a time of 3:59.33. On the woman’s side, Junior Carly Hensel qualified thirteenth with a time of 4:26.28 and sophomore Amanda Dunnigan is seeded sixth with a time of 4:18.34.

South Carolina also qualified four swimmers between the women’s 100 fly and the men’s 200 free. Junior Christy Williams qualified seventh with a time of 54.64 and sophomore Sharntelle McLean qualified sixteenth with a time of 55.78. Junior Dan White was the second highest qualifier for the Gamecocks. He is seeded third in the 200 free, with a time of 1:36.71, a personal best. Senior Colby Mack also qualified in the 200 free. He finished eleventh with a time of 1:38.23.

South Carolina’s final two qualifiers were junior Kurt Muller in the men’s 100 breaststroke and senior Lindsay Tiberio in the women’s 100 breaststroke. Muller qualified eighth with a time of 54.62. Tiberio was the Gamecock’s highest qualifier for the day. She is seeded second, with a time of 1:02.07.
