South Carolina vs. Alabama

Post Game quotes

South Carolina Head Coach Susan Walvius:

“I thought the team responded well after the Vanderbilt game. We looked at the game film from that game and I thought that the team played the best 30-35 minutes we had all season, and not to win the game was really disappointing. Our team came back after that game and really worked hard. A team can go a lot of different ways after a loss like that, but ours came in and practiced hard and really bounced back. I’ve seen great leadership and intensity from this team and we came in and played hard today. The team really took care of the ball and made better decisions and really played as a team today.”

On future games:

“I think a lot of people out there know what we have, and if they don’t I think they will see it when they play us. We need to make sure that we go on the road and play as hard as we can. We have a nice basketball team and we have a lot of depth on this team. I don’t think anyone who is looking at this South Carolina team is going to take us lightly. I think we can play with anyone in the conference.”

On the defense:

“Honestly, I think our team, especially the defense, really stepped up in these last two games. I thought we had a couple of breakdowns on defense against Vanderbilt. Our players played well to the scout defense and saw their strengths and played to them.”

USC Player Shanel Harris:

On the defensive play:

“I think we did a lot today to show what this team is capable of, especially defensively and I think you will see us to continue to improve.”

On coming back after the Vanderbilt game:

“That’s what you have to in order to come back and play as hard as we did. That’s what we did today. To me, it felt like `ok we’re going to be alright.'”

USC Player Lakesha Tolliver

On working as a team:

“We worked well together today, maybe a little better than we do normally. We knew they were going to come in and try to stop our first option, so we went to our second option and it worked well for us.”
