COLUMBIA, SC – South Carolina freshman guard Brandis Raley-Ross, averaging 10.0 ppg last week and aiding Carolina’s cause in two wins, has been named the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Freshman of the Week. It is the second time he has picked up this honor (first time: Nov. 20). Chris Lofton was named the SEC Player of the Week after dropping a career-high 34 points in Tennessee’s 76-58 win over No. 16 Memphis.

Raley-Ross, a 6-2, 195lb. guard from Charlotte, N.C. native, attended Gaston Day School where he averaged 29 ppg and 7 rpg his senior year.

USC, 6-2, is off for final exams until Wednes., Dec. 20 when it hosts Princeton at 7 pm in the Colonial Center.

A few highlights:

* Raley-Ross helped lead South Carolina to a 2-0 record last week, recording a home win over the College of Charleston, 67-55, and a key road win at Baylor, 64-59.

* He scored nine points with four rebounds, two assists and one steal versus College of Charleston and totaled 11 points, four rebounds and two assists at Baylor.

* Raley-Ross also was 3-of-6 from three-point range in the road win at Baylor.

* He has scored double figures in five of the last seven games.
