Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina volleyball will wrap up its 2005 season Saturday when they host the Winthrop Eagles at the Volleyball Compeition Facility. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. The Gamecocks will try to improve on their 5-4 home record as they go for their third consecutive win in as many matches.

USC is 12-14 while Winthrop enters as the Big South champion with a 28-4 record. The Eagles went undefeated in the Big South as they went 14-0 and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

This marks the 19th meeting between the two teams and the Gamecocks lead 13-5. The last meeting between the two teams was in 1998. The Gamecocks have won the last 11 matches with their last loss coming in 1982.

In the last outing for USC, junior Shonda Cole recorded her 400th kill of the season and became only the fourth player to reach this mark in a season. It is the fifth time a USC player has recorded at least 400 kills. Lori Rowe did it twice in 1985 (459) and 1986 (497), Lora Myers posted 484 in 1990 and Amy Iannoccari holds the record with 542, which was recorded in 1994.

Overall, Cole is 17 kills shy of tying for ninth all-time in career kills for South Carolina.

Senior Sarah Morgan is 32 digs shy of reaching the 1,000th career mark as she enters the match with 968. Morgan is four digs shy of becoming the ninth best all-time and 14 digs shy of becoming the eighth best all-time.
