Tuscaloosa, Ala. – For the second year in a row, South Carolina’s Shonda Cole was named a second team All-SEC selection, announced at the SEC Volleyball Tournament banquet in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Thursday night. USC freshman Marija Milosevic picked up her first conference honor as she was selected to the All-Freshman team.

Cole, a junior outside hitter, leads the Gamecocks in kills with 408 total and 241 in SEC matches only. She recorded her 1,000th career kill this season, becoming only the 11th Gamecock to reach this milestone. Her 400th kill this season came in the match against Alabama, and makes her the first Gamecock to reach 400 in a single season since 1994 with Amy Iannoccari (542). Cole recorded double figures in kills in all but two matches this season as she hit .253 in conference play and averaged 3.89 kills per game.

Milosevic is only the second Gamecock to earn a spot on the All-Freshman team. Junior Lynae Vanden Hull was named to the team and named Freshman of the Year back in 2003. A native of Gukos, Serbia and Montenegro, Milosevic came on strong at the end of conference play. She recorded 28 kills in the match against Kentucky to tie the school record for kills in a single match. Milosevic is second on the team in hitting in conference matches with .208 and 2.89 kills per game. She led the team in service aces with 19 and averaged 1.51 digs per game.

South Carolina now has 35 All-SEC selections, including the all-freshman honors.
