COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina outside hitters Shonda Cole and Lynae Vanden Hull were named to the GlaxoSmithKline Classic all-tournament team this past weekend, hosted by the University of North Carolina. The Gamecocks went 2-1 at the tournament and improved to 6-1 overall. USC picked up wins over Coastal Carolina and UNC but fell to Purdue.

Cole, a junior from Kings Mountain, N.C., recorded led the team in kills for the weekend with 49, hit .396 and averaged 4.20 kills per game. Vanden Hull, a junior from Papillion, Neb., hit .279 with 26 kills, had six service aces and totaled eight blocks.

Against the Tar Heels, Cole recorded a season high, 20 kills, while Vanden Hull registered six block assists for a season high. This marks the second week in a row that both Cole and Vanden Hull were named to an all-tournament team this season.

For the season, Cole is hitting .326 with 108 kills and averaging 4.50 kills per game, and is second on the team in total blocks with 24. Vanden Hull is averaging 2.74 kills per game with a total of 64 and an attack percentage of .242. She is second on the team in service aces with 10 and is fourth on the team in total blocks with 14.
