South Carolina
– Steve Pearce hit two home runs on the day to give him 19 on the season. It is his second multi-home run game with the last coming against Charleston Southern on February 14. The 19 are tied for the team lead.
– The South Carolina Pitching Staff had 583 strikeouts entering today’s game against North Carolina. The staff struck out 14 Tar Heels today, bringing the season total to 597 strikeouts on the year. That sets a school record for strikeouts in a season, eclipsing the record set in 2002 of 587 strikeouts over 75 games. USC has played in a total of 62 games this season.
– Carolina has hit five home runs in two games in the NCAA Regional.
– 6-1 in their last seven games against the Tar Heels
– The Gamecocks are 15-2 in NCAA Regional games since 2000. (not including Super Regionals or College World Series games)
