Columbia, S.C. – Ninth ranked South Carolina (26-10) opens up an eight-game homestand on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. as the Gamecocks host The Citadel (23-13) at Sarge Frye Field. This is the first of two meetings with the Bulldogs this season with the second game scheduled at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12 in Charleston, S.C. at Riley Park. South Carolina junior RHP Cliff Donald (0-0, 0.95 ERA) is slated to start for the Gamecocks.

Carolina leads the series with The Citadel 107-43-1 with both teams splitting the two contests last year. USC defeated the Citadel 7-5 in Charleston with the Bulldogs earning a 7-4 win in Columbia.

South Carolina continues its homestand this weekend with a three-game SEC series vs. Alabama. Friday’s first pitch is set for 7 p.m, with Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s finale at 1:30 p.m. Saturday’s game will be televised live on FOX Sports Net South and SEC-TV with Dave Neal and Larry Conley calling the action.

HOME RUN POWER
South Carolina has now hit 64 home runs on the year with four players with at least 10 (Michael Campbell, 12, Steve Pearce, 12, Landon Powell, 11, Brendan Winn, 10)

POWELL CONTINUES TO CLIMB UP THE CHARTS
Senior catcher Landon Powell has five home runs in the last eight games and is batting .385 on the year with 11 HR and 44 RBI … Powell is now in sixth place on the USC All-Time Career List for hits with 233 and tied for eighth with 36 home runs … Powell is also batting .390 in the SEC with six HR and 23 RBI.

GREGG’S STREAK CONTINUES
Sophomore OF Davy Gregg is leading South Carolina in hitting with a .394 batting average … Gregg currently owns a 14-game hitting streak, the longest in his career and the second longest by a USC player this season.

RAWL BECOMES 20-GAME WINNER
Junior RHP Aaron Rawl improved to 7-2 on the year hurling six 2/3 innings and allowing three runs on seven hits … Rawl leads USC in innings pitched with 66 1/3 innings and has struck out 53 batters and walked seven while owning a 4.07 ERA … With Rawl’s win on Sunday, he becomes the 16th player in South Carolina history to record at least 20 wins in his career.

BLACKWELL POSTS SAVE ON SUNDAY
Junior RHP Chad Blackwell hurled two no-hit innings in Sunday’s 5-3 win vs. Kentucky to earn his eighth save of the season.
