The No. 18/23 South Carolina Gamecock softball team hopes to snap a six-game losing streak this weekend as they host the Kentucky Wildcats at Beckham Field. A doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. while game three will be Sunday at 1 p.m. The Gamecocks are 17-11 and 6-9 in SEC play while the Wildcats are 18-18-1 and 4-14 in the SEC. Saturday is the “Reach Out and Read” book drive where all fans that bring a reading book, get in for $1. Sunday is “Camper Day” and all fans that wear a USC camp t-shirt get free admission.

In the SEC East, USC is fourth while Kentucky is fifth. Overall in the SEC, the Gamecocks are eighth while Kentucky is tenth. For the series, USC leads 18-7. Last year, The Gamecocks swept the Wildcats in Lexington. The Garnet and Black have won the last six meetings against UK. In 2001, Kentucky took the series from USC 2-1.

In SEC play as a team, the Gamecocks are hitting .214 while Kentucky has a .222 average. In the circle, USC’s conference ERA is 2.17 while the Wildcats have a 4.79 ERA.
